Men's Healthy Drinking Water Guide: Drinking More Hard Water Has Many Benefits

Men Need to Drink More Water

Water is an essential nutrient for human survival, and it is the most necessary, effective, and inexpensive health product. In daily life, many men don't pay enough attention to replenishing their fluids, which is detrimental to their health.

Why emphasize drinking more water? The reason is simple:

Water has nutritional and health-promoting functions, making up about 2/3 of the human body, and plays a vital role:

① As an important component of human cells, it maintains cell shape.

② It participates in metabolism, such as various biochemical reactions and a series of physiological activities.

③ It is an important solvent for dissolving various nutrients.

④ It transports nutrients and excretes metabolic waste products.

⑤ It regulates the viscosity of body fluids (blood, lymph, etc.) and improves the circulation of body fluids and tissues.

⑥ It regulates body temperature.

⑦ As a lubricant for joints, muscles, and body cavities, it keeps the skin moist and elastic.

In short, all metabolic activities of the human body cannot be separated from water. Therefore, water is the most basic substance for maintaining bodily health. Men should know that unlike sugar and fat, water is not stored in the body; water intake and excretion maintain a strict balance. Therefore, to maintain this water balance and ensure normal bodily function, daily water intake must be consistent with or greater than water excretion. Otherwise, dehydration prevents the proper elimination of metabolic waste products, hinders blood circulation, disrupts body temperature, and impairs various physiological functions.

Due to the pressures of life and work, men are often busy, and given that men's metabolism is faster than women's, they should drink more water.

Drinking moderately hard water is beneficial to health.

In my country, the hardness of drinking water is measured by converting all minerals in the water into calcium carbonate, measured in units of calcium carbonate per liter of water. Water with a calcium carbonate content below 150 mg/L is called soft water; 150–450 mg/L is hard water; 450–714 mg/L is very hard water; and above 714 mg/L is extra hard water. my country's drinking water standards stipulate that hard water with a calcium carbonate content below 450 mg/L is considered moderately hard water. Drinking moderately hard water is beneficial to health.

American scientists have found that people in areas using soft water as their drinking water have a significantly higher chance of dying from cardiovascular disease than those in areas using hard water. The hard water referred to by this scientist is water with a higher content of calcium and magnesium ions. His research report indicates that drinking water with higher calcium and magnesium ion content reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. Other studies conducted in recent years by scientists on the relationship between drinking water hardness and cardiovascular disease have found that people in many Nordic countries, such as Denmark, Finland, and Sweden, drink soft water, which contains very little calcium and magnesium ions, and their cardiovascular disease mortality rates are significantly higher. Conversely, people in some Mediterranean countries, such as Italy, Portugal, Greece, Spain, and Yugoslavia, primarily drink groundwater, which contains more calcium and magnesium ions and is considered hard water; their cardiovascular disease mortality rates are much lower than those in the Nordic countries.

Scientists from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency conducted experiments with pigeons and found that adding calcium compounds to the water they drank lowered their serum cholesterol levels. It is important to know that elevated serum cholesterol is related to cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis. Therefore, we advise men to drink hard water appropriately, as it can be beneficial to their health. Do not assume that distilled water, being pure and free of impurities, is necessarily good for your health.
